We have a lot of kid's story Bible's that we love. But Planet 316 and WorthyKids/Ideals have taken Bible reading to the next level with their Planet 316 Story Bible and the companion Planet 316 Story Bible App. My kids are L-O-V-I-N-G this new interactive story Bible and have had a blast using it with the app!
Let me just take a moment to confess. My husband and I were checking out this story Bible and the free downloadable app that comes with it. We were getting a big kick out of it and are very much blown away by how cool it is...and it is COOL!
Planet 316 Story Bible App
The book itself is great but it's the app that just takes it over the top. The Planet 316 Bible App is available FREE for download on both Android Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Once you download the app, it's ready to be used with your new Planet 316 Story Bible!
You may be wondering, "What's so special about an app?" I'm about to tell you. Planet 316 refers to it as "Augmented Reality," which I think is a fancy-schmancy way of saying 3-D animation? That's how I would describe it anyway.
What you do is you open your app and hold it over any of the story Bible pages. It'll say it's scanning for a moment and then, all of the sudden, you'll see the graphics pop-up from the page and start moving! I know right! What?! When you tap on the characters, they'll even start talking. It really is the neatest thing.

Planet 316 Story Bible
As for the Story Bible itself, I'm a huge fan of the illustrations. They're fun, colorful, and quickly caught my kiddos attention. I'd describe them as your typical "cartoon-y" type illustrations but extremely well done. And to see the illustrations come to life through the app is awesome!
The retelling of familiar Bible stories is very kid-friendly. I'd say it reads similar to a typical storybook but stays true to the Biblical account of each book. The Bible stories themselves are short enough that we're able to read through several of them before bedtime and still discuss them at length.
I'm not sure what the suggested age range is but it's engaging enough to keep all 5 of my kids attention (ages 2-8.) Even my 7-month-old loves looking at the illustrations while I read. My 8-year-old can read it to her siblings with no problems.
