My preschool-aged kids are always wanting to "do school" like their older sisters. We have been reviewing MESSYLEARNING FOR PRESCHOOLERS AND KINDERGARTENERS from PandaParents and my little ones have been enjoying this engaging curriculum for early learners.
PandaParents offers an early learning curriculum for preschool to kindergarten aged students. I liken it to a sort of "Book Study" format where the content covered over a course are derived from one story. In other words, each course covers a different story.
One thing that I really like about PandaParents is the fact that the courses cover a wide variety of subjects. Yet, it all focuses on one thing (that being the story.) So, it's not all over the place but still covers a great deal of information.
Here they learned math through shape recognition and building using basic shapes. My girls had fun decorating their shapes to build their sailboat. They even decorated a background to build their sailboats on.
My 8-year-old was a big help and even helped her sister with her sailboat project. They had a good time using their imaginations to create a setting for their sailboats.
My 5-year-old worked on her reading, math, and fine motor skills with this connect the dot worksheet. She needed a little bit of assistance but she was excited to see what came of it in the end...she made H's!
They learned about feelings, emotions, and safety by building comprehension and cognitive skills. That little yellow guy is part of the story and one of their favorite characters. I've found him drawn in several places around our house =/
The course even delves into science. Here they sorted various animals according to their habitats. I asked my daughter if a skunk could live in the ocean. She laughed and said "No mom, skunks don't swim." lol Indeed...
Their imagination was put to work here as they built a safe home for Scotty the Skunk. They were given 2 sheets of paper with multiple graphics on them. I told them to use the pictures to build a place Scotty would feel safe in. This is what they came up with.
While my 2 and 4-year-old mostly enjoyed watching the videos, they did indulge in a coloring activity. The top one is my 4-year-old and the bottom is my 2-year-old.
My younger kiddos have been enjoying the MESSYLEARNING FOR PRESCHOOLERS AND KINDERGARTENERS curriculum. As for me I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. As I mentioned before, I like that PandaParents incorporates multiple subjects into their courses. They offer a nice variety of activities that keep kids engaged while actually learning something. This curriculum is an unexpected but pleasant win for us!
