If there's one thing that gets my kids excited about, it's new books! I'm grateful they love literature and they undoubtedly get it from their literature-loving parents. Our newest addition is The Cow Said Neigh! A Farm Story by Rory Feek.
If you've read any of my children's book reviews, you know I'm a sucker for illustrations. And this one did not leave me disappointed. The illustrator did a great job at capturing the comedic tone of the story without being overly cheesy. I know, call me a critic, but there's nothing worse than illustrations that don't fit the story. Is it just me? Ok....moving on...
Aren't they precious? My son is always reading to his little sister. I very rare that they aren't able to find a book that they both agree on. It's probably the only thing they don't fight over! They've quickly developed a mutual love for The Cow Said Neigh! and it's comedic antics.
The story takes you through a farm setting, moving from one farm animal to the next. Each one imagines what they could do if they were another animal...leading them to sound off as the animal they're imagining.
This story makes a great read-aloud or book option for an advanced reader. I'm going to be using it for our farm themed homeschool unit with a craft and writing project to go along with it! There's a lot you can do with it and tons of fun ideas.
The Cow Said Neigh! A Farm Story is quirky and fun. My kiddos get a good laugh out of the mismatched sounds of each farm animal and enjoy the comical, cartoonish illustrations. It's quickly become a bedtime favorite.
If your kids love funny stories as much as mine do, then they'll enjoy this fun-loving, farm animal view of life on the farm!
